Around the Firm

Dear NONE,

This has been a busy trial season for Marsh, Rickard & Bryan, P.C., and that hasn't left us much time for writing this newsletter.  To catch you up, Nat Bryan won a $950,000 verdict in Blount County on behalf of a woman who hurt her hand in a chicken processing machine; Nat and Mike Beard tried a medical malpractice case against a doctor in Madison County that ended in a defense verdict; and David Marsh and Mike won a $4.5 million dollar loss of consortium verdict in Jefferson County on behalf of the wife of a man who burned to death in a furnace explosion.  Susan Silvernail assisted with visual technology on all of those trials.

More recently, Nat has been gearing up for a trial scheduled for mid-January and is squeezing in some hunting over the holidays.  Jeff Rickard spoke this week to a large group of lawyers on the "Nuts and Bolts of Negotiations" for ABICLE.  Among other things, Jeff will be handling Vioxx cases this coming year.  David continues to handle several large trucking cases while he and Mike have teamed up to work on a large business tort case in Colorado. Alan Lasseter has teamed up with lawyers at Emond, Vines, Gorham & Waldrep to work on §1983 cases on behalf of minor girls who were sexually assaulted while confined to DYS' Chalkville campus.  Henry Cornelius is pursuing his interest in business cases, especially those with an environmental bent.  Susan spoke last month on the topic "E-Discovery: Preserving the Evidence", and is busy evaluating the firm's technology needs for the new year.

Some of you may have heard that Brandon Essig left the firm  We're real proud of Brandon for making it through the Marines' basic training; he's now Lieutenant Essig and on his way to being a JAG lawyer.  In January, we will welcome David Steelman , who's giving up his position as the Executive Director and General Counsel of the Attorneys Information Exchange Group to practice law with us.

We are thankful for our opportunity to communicate and work with you this year.  Marsh, Rickard & Bryan is committed to making the civil justice system work for all of the citizens of this great state and country and consider it a privilege to represent the injured and hurt among us.

Happy Holidays!
