AROUND THE FIRM Dear NONE, We are pleased to introduce you to the newest member of our firm: Derrick Mills.
Derrick graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2003. He then clerked for U.S. District Court Judge U.W. Clemon of the Northern District. From there, Derrick practiced more than two years with a major defense firm in Birmingham handling product liability cases and business litigation. Derrick says he made the switch to plaintiff's work "to have the chance to directly touch the lives of those who have been injured". He spends his free time trying to keep up with his energetic 2-year-old daughter. When the Alabama Jury Verdict Reporter recently published its "million dollar list" and identified the attorneys who have appeared more than once from 2002 to 2006, there was only one attorney who had appeared as many as four times: David Marsh. The "million dollar list" refers to verdicts in the amount of one million dollars or more. These are the cases that earned David the top spot on the list: a $6,000,000 verdict in a medical malpractice case in Lee County in 2006; a $29,000,000 verdict in a trucking case in Shelby County in 2005; a $4,500,000 verdict in a products liability case in Jefferson County in 2004 and a $2,964,000 verdict in a fraud case in Jefferson County in 2002. Nat Bryan was recently invited to speak to the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association. His paper, "Tort-Based Civil Actions that may Arise in Tandem with Workers' Compensation Cases ", is available on our firm website for you to read. © 2007 by Marsh, Rickard & Bryan, P.C.
