AROUND THE FIRM

Dear NONE,

David Marsh makes the top of the list again! Just like last year, David has been identified by the Alabama Jury Verdict Reporter as the only attorney in Alabama to appear on its "million dollar list" as many as five times from 2002 to 2007.  The "million dollar list" refers to verdicts in the amount of one million dollars or more.  The cases that earned David the top spot on the list are a $6,500,000 verdict in a fraud case in St. Clair County in 2007; a $6,000,000 verdict in a medical malpractice case in Lee County in 2006; a $29,000,000 verdict in a trucking case in Shelby County in 2005; a $4,500,000 verdict in a product liability case in Jefferson County in 2004; and a $2,954,000 verdict in a fraud case in Jefferson County in 2002.

Young lawyer Derrick Mills recently got his first verdict on behalf of a plaintiff in a wheels case he tried in Tuscaloosa County.  Derrick's client suffered soft tissue injuries as a result of an intersection collision.  The jury awarded $25,000 in compensatory damages.

A profile of the firm appeared in the March issue of Birmingham magazine.  The issue is devoted to Woodward-White's "The Best Lawyers in America".  The firm is proud to have two lawyers listed in this pre-eminent referral guide to the legal profession in the United States: David and Mike Beard.  The profile can be viewed on our firm website.

Earlier this month, David spoke to a group of lawyers at an ABICLE seminar about damages.  His paper, "Maximizing Damages in a Tort Case", is available on the website for you to read.

In January, David spoke to the trial lawyers at the 2008 Mid-Winter Conference of the Alabama Association for Justice.  This paper, "The Opening Statement & its Power of Persuasion", is also available on our firm website for download.
