Car seat use could minimize child injuries in crash

In general, parents want to do whatever it takes to keep their children safe. For most, this is true not only in their home but extends to their vehicles as well. The best way to do this in the latter situation is to use a car seat or booster seat. In fact, it is the law in the state of Alabama.

Child safety seats do multiple things. First, they prevent children from being crushed by other, potentially larger, individuals in the car. Second, they absorb the force of the impact. Next, by holding the child in the seat as well as the vehicle, it ensures that he or she is not thrown from the vehicle or into something located in the vehicle. It also spreads the force of the impact throughout the body of the child in a safe way.

The proper use of a car seat could prevent a child from suffering serious injuries or even dying. To help make sure that the seats are installed correctly, safety seat inspection stations are located throughout the nation including in the state of Alabama. At these locations in addition to making sure that the correct seat is being used, individuals can show drivers how they should be installed.

When a vehicle transporting a child is involved in a crash it is possible that the child could be hurt even if he or she is properly restrained in the right car seat. If that happens and the accident is the result of negligence on the part of another person, it is possible that the child’s parents or guardians could pursue compensation for the injury.
