Long-term care costs after head injury could add up for victim

While any injury has the potential of creating lifelong complications, there are some that have more serious implications than others. For example, an injury to the head can alter a person’s life forever. The long-term care costs alone can quickly drain an Alabama family’s finances. One out-of-state man may be facing these costs after he was injured by an exploding tire.

The incident happened one morning on a day in mid-December. The 23-year-old victim had apparently taken his truck to a Sears Auto Center to have a tire placed on a rim. Unfortunately, the repair did not go as planned.

According to the person who called 911, a worker was placing a large truck tire on a rim when it exploded. Both an employee and the customer were struck by the tire and were unconscious when emergency responders arrived. The employee ultimately passed away as a result of his injuries. The customer was placed in intensive care, but family members say he has since been moved to a regular room.

Unfortunately, many complications stemming from a head injury can alter a person’s day-to-day life. In some cases, the symptoms are slow to arise; some people are unable to work and others require around-the-clock care. The long-term care costs for a person suffering from a head or brain injury can quickly become overwhelming. When an injury is caused by another’s negligence, many in Alabama seek to hold the party believed responsible accountable by filing a personal injury lawsuit in a civil court.
