Two more computer brands issue recalls involving fire hazards

Once again, computers are being recalled due to the potential for the battery to catch fire. This time, the computers in the recalls are:

Lenovo ThinkPad laptops - The specific model involved in the recall is the 14-inch ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Generation laptop. The problem with this model is that an unfastened screw has the potential to damage the battery. This can lead to the battery overheating and causing a fire and/or burns.

If you have one of these laptops, you should stop using it immediately and contact Lenovo at

Fujitsu Notebook computers and workstations - The models that are part of this recall are CELSIUS H720, LIFEBOOK E752, E733, E743, E753, P702, P772, S710, S752, S762, T732, T734 and T902. Like many other computers with lithium-ion batteries, the batteries in these models can overheat. Users could be injured if the battery causes a fire.

The company states that people who have one of these computers should stop using them now. Learn more about the recall here.

What to do when a defective product causes injuries

Lithium-ion battery hazards are all too common. To be safe, you want to be sure to follow the instructions in the recall notice if you have a computer involved in the recall.

If a laptop - or any defective product - causes injuries and/or property damage, you can take action. With an attorney's help, you can hold the negligent manufacturer accountable for losses such as injuries, lost wages, and pain and suffering. The manufacturer and any additional negligent parties will have teams of lawyers on their side, so it's a good idea for you to have legal representation.
