Crash kills 1; man only gets probation and fine in Alabama

A truck driver from Alabama has been sentenced in an accident case where one person was killed. The driver, a 31-year-old man from York, Alabama, was driving when he struck a Toyota sedan after failing to stop at a stop sign. A 49-year-old woman didn't survive the truck accidents.

A pair of crashes in Alabama, both of which are being investigated by police, appear to have been linked very closely together. While no one was killed in the accidents, one of the drivers did suffer injuries. Those injuries were said to be minor, and it was not reported whether or not the person who was hurt had to go to the hospital for treatment.

Crash investigators call for probe of government safety agency

Alabama residents who rely on tour or intercity buses may be interested to hear that, on Nov. 7, federal accident investigators called for a probe into the government agency responsible for ensuring the safety of commercial vehicles. Investigators alleged that Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration inspectors are failing to do their job.

Charity cyclist injured in road accident

Alabama cyclists may be interested to hear about a 24-year-old man who was hit by a tractor trailer on Sept. 21, 2013 as he rode his bike through Florida. The cyclist was riding to visit all 30 Major League Baseball parks in order to raise money for partially deaf children in the name of charity, and he had already visited 29 MLB locations at the time of the truck accidents.

Dump Truck and Fertilizer Spreader collide causing serious injury

Two Alabama drivers were injured in a multi-vehicle accident when their two large trucks collided around 12:45 p.m. on July 1st. The driver of the dump truck ran into the back of the fertilizer spreader vehicle near the intersection of County Road 164. The collision from the truck accidents was so violent that it detached the wheels from the spreader causing the tank to spill a load of lime on the road. There were serious injuries on both sides; the dump truck driver was flown to the hospital and the fertilizer truck driver was taken by ambulance.
