Car or truck accidents that result in fatalities are always tragic. Fatal car accidents involving teenagers are especially heartbreaking. Students at one Alabama high school recently mourned the loss of their 17-year-old peer who succumbed to the injuries he sustained in a recent car accident.
The accident occurred when the car that the 17-year-old man was driving was struck by a truck. The driver of the truck was an 89-year-old man who hit the driver’s side of the young man’s car. The force of the impact caused the 17-year-old to lose control of his vehicle causing it to slide and collide with another car.
When paramedics arrived at the scene of the three-vehicle accident, they were forced to cut the teenager out of his vehicle. After nearly an hour, paramedics were finally able to extract the 17-year-old from his vehicle and he was flown to a hospital for treatment of severe injuries including a punctured lung and brain injury.
The teenager remained on life support for several days before his family announced he had died. The 17-year-old’s family and friends remember him as a kind, selfless and extraordinary young man who touched many lives.
So far, no charges have been filed related to the accident. To date, no lawsuits have been filed either. Should the young man’s family decide to file a wrongful death claim against the negligent driver who caused the crash, they may be able to recover compensation related to medical expenses and funeral costs.
