A 25-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman have lost their lives in a Russell County car accident. Unfortunately, fatal car accidents like this happen frequently in Alabama and although emergency crews and doctors do what they can to save the lives of the people involved, they are not always successful. In this crash, the young man died at the accident scene and the young woman died shortly after she arrived at a hospital in Columbus.
The fatally wounded man and woman both hailed from Seale, Alabama. They were both passengers in a 1997 Chevy Camaro being driven by a 20-year-old man from Phenix City. The driver was lucky to survive the fatal crash, but he is currently listed to be in critical condition at the hospital. One other passenger was riding in the car at the time of the accident, but no information has been provided regarding that passenger’s current condition.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the cause of this crash. At this time, no word has been provided as to whether the driver was inebriated, intoxicated or distracted in some way at the time of the incident. Family members of the fatal victims, and family members of everyone else involved in the collision, will no doubt want answers about the cause of the crash as soon as possible.
Depending on the results of police investigations into a fatal Alabama car accident, the families of those who were killed may wish to pursue wrongful death claims in civil court. In the event of a single car fatal crash where passengers are killed, the driver may be responsible. Alternatively, the responsible party might be the manufacturer of a defective and dangerous automobile or a city that was responsible for the safe upkeep of public roads.
