Recent vehicle recalls might affect Alabama vehicle owners. According to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, three major auto manufacturers are the latest to order recalls. They involve possible steering failures, electrical shorts and fuel sensor issues.
For Kia, the problem involves front control arms that could be prone to rusting, which could result in loss of control of the vehicle. A number of owners had reported to the NHTSA that their vehicle became impossible to steer. The geographic recall will include 80,000 2006 to 2012 Sedona minivans registered or originally sold in the Northeast and Midwest of the US, but does not include Alabama. This could be a concern to those vehicle owners and one which area drivers should monitor for issues in their vehicle or wider recalls.
The Porsche recall involves 2014 Cayennes totaling 207. Their problem is a fuel sensor that could read higher than what is available, according to the NHTSA report. And, the Toyota recall involves approximately 9,800 vehicles for a possible electrical short. According to their report, the affected vehicles are the 2013 and 2014 Avalons and Hybrids, 2013 and 2014 Camry’s and Hybrids, and the 2014 Corolla.
Product recalls might help protect consumers, but some serious incidents could pre-date the recall.
