A news story that includes a stolen police car in Alabama or any other state is probably not going to have a good ending. An accident involving a stolen police cruiser resulted in one death and five injuries in Fayetteville, Tennessee. A 49-year-old woman was arguing with her boyfriend in the parking lot of the Dollar General Market. While they were arguing, the boyfriend flagged down a police officer.
After the police car stopped, it was determined that the woman had apparently stolen meat from the market. While police were in the process of arresting the woman for shoplifting, she is said to have stolen their police car. A worker at a nearby gas station reported that he saw the cruiser drive by at about 120 mph and run a red light.
While traveling at a high speed in the police car, the woman collided with an SUV carrying five people inside. One passenger, a 55-year-old man, was killed. Four other persons in the SUV were injured. The police car then crashed into a pump at a Marathon gas station. The woman was also injured and treated at a Nashville hospital. She is no longer at the hospital and is expected to face criminal charges. She has been arrested nine times since 2006 for charges including public intoxication and criminal trespassing.
