Families in Alabama and across the country wait for the warm summer months to take advantage of outdoor activities like fishing and camping. A fatal truck accidents recently turned one family’s fun camping trip into a nightmare.
A tragic truck accident has left two young brothers dead. The boys, ages five and nine, were camping with their father and another friend when the tent they were sleeping in was driven over by truck. Both boys were killed at the scene. Their father and 9-year-old friend were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Police determined the 30-year-old driver of the truck had been drinking and was speeding when he lost control of his truck and ran over the boys’ tent before crashing into a tree. He was arrested and faces several charges including drunken driving and manslaughter.
Sadly, due to the man’s reckless and negligent actions, a family will never get to see their children grow up. Fatal car and truck accidents involving alcohol and excessive speeding happen with far too much frequency and often result in serious injuries or, as in this case, death.
Families impacted by the negligent acts of a car or truck driver may want to seek legal action by filing a wrongful death lawsuit. While nothing can take away the pain and grief of losing a loved one, compensation awarded in a wrongful death claim can help lessen the financial burden associated with medical and funeral expenses.
