Woman killed in 2-car accident

Alabama State Troopers are investigating a two-car accident north of Opelika that resulted in the death of a 68-year-old woman. Following the fatal crash, both the East Alabama Medical Center EMS and the Beulah Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene. So far, it does not appear that anyone received charges as a result of the car accident.

The crash took place near the intersection of U.S. Highway 29 and Lee Road 262. At approximately 1:15 p.m., a 2004 Toyota Tundra struck the victim while she attempted to make a left turn onto U.S. Highway 29 North. When medical personnel arrived at the scene, the victim was found to be unresponsive and pronounced dead. According to the Lee County Coroner’s office, the victim’s death was the result of several blunt force injuries.

Following the fatal accident, the coroner at the scene released a statement confirming that all of the occupants of both vehicles had been wearing seatbelts. He also said that alcohol was not thought to have been a factor in the crash. Although it is unclear how many people were involved in the accident, it is known that no other injuries were reported.

If the investigation determines that the Toyota driver was at fault, the victim’s family members may wish to file a wrongful death claim. A lawyer may assist them by gathering evidence of reckless driving and presenting it in court. Evidence that may help to support a wrongful death claim may include police reports, medical records and testimony from witnesses who were at the scene.

"They took a case that others would have stayed clear of.."
I have the utmost respect for Rip Andrews and the lawyers at MRB Law. They took a case that others would have stayed clear of because the issue of state immunity was involved. Through determination and unwavering commitment they were able to a find resolution to an extremely difficult matter.

"They...brought justice to my family through a multi-million dollar verdict."
These lawyers took a complicated issue, revealed the truth in a way 12 jurors unfamiliar with the topic could understand, and brought justice to my family through a multi-million dollar verdict. They were able to relate my “invisible” medical condition to the jury better than I can to my own friends. And because of that, the jury hugged me and cried with me when it was all over. That meant more to me than any amount of money.
