While most people in Alabama are able to celebrate the Christmas and New Year’s holidays with friends and family, some are sadly left to grieve for those they have lost. This grief can be made even worse when the deaths occur in accidents that should have been able to be avoided through better decisions and behaviors on the part of others. Such is the case for the family of one man killed the day after Christmas in Lee County.
The 51-year-old man was riding his motorcycle in the middle of the day in when a pickup truck attempted to make a left turn in front of him. Instead of completing the turn, the truck hit the motorcycle, killing the biker at the scene of the crash. The collision was reportedly almost a head-on accident. The death of the motorcyclist was actually the fourth traffic fatality to take place in Lee County in a 24-hour period.
A young girl died on Christmas Day after the ATV she was on crashed into a utility pole. A grandmother died that evening in an accident that her three-year-old grandson managed to survive. Just after midnight, a speeding driver crashed his vehicle into a tree, killing himself in the process.
