Wrongful death lawsuit may be filed following workplace death

Throughout the state of Alabama individuals work hard for a living. Those individuals get up and go to work each day expecting that they will safely return home at the end of their shift. While in many cases this is what happens, sadly there are occasions when workplace accidents occur that leave a worker injured. In the worst cases they may die. This was the unfortunate reality for an Alabama construction worker earlier this week.

The 25-year-old man was working on a trailer located in a work zone that was struck by a pickup truck. The man suffered serious injuries in the incident that resulted in his death.

When someone unexpectedly loses their life, loved ones are likely understandably upset. In addition to dealing with these emotions, the family of the deceased may experience financial hardship as a result of the death. Combined, these factors can be overwhelming and those left behind may be confused.

Depending on the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident it is possible that compensation for the death may be sought via a wrongful death lawsuit. To be viable, the negligence of another person or entity must have played a role in the fatal accident occurring.

This option may be particularly appealing in situations where the person who died was the bread winner for a family. While the compensation recovered pales in comparison to having the deceased person back, for some it can make a big difference in the quality of life they experience going forward.

It is unclear whether the construction worker who died in this incident had a family or was financially supporting anyone. If he did, and they decide to pursue a lawsuit of this nature, the first step is to consult a lawyer.

"They took a case that others would have stayed clear of.."
I have the utmost respect for Rip Andrews and the lawyers at MRB Law. They took a case that others would have stayed clear of because the issue of state immunity was involved. Through determination and unwavering commitment they were able to a find resolution to an extremely difficult matter.

"They...brought justice to my family through a multi-million dollar verdict ."
These lawyers took a complicated issue, revealed the truth in a way 12 jurors unfamiliar with the topic could understand, and brought justice to my family through a multi-million dollar verdict. They were able to relate my “invisible” medical condition to the jury better than I can to my own friends. And because of that, the jury hugged me and cried with me when it was all over. That meant more to me than any amount of money.
