Defect in some Harley-Davidsons could lead to crash and injury

Harley-Davidson is a motorcycle brand that is well known throughout the nation, including in the state of Alabama. In fact, for many, owning a Harley is a dream come true. As is the case with any motorcycle, there are certain risks that go along with riding this brand of bike. Product defects with certain motorcycles made by Harley-Davidson make this risk even greater. As a result of the defects, multiple models were recently recalled.

The reason for the recall is the possibility that a rider could lose control of the bike because of a problem with the clutch. The issue with the clutch is due to gas bubbles that result in the clutch master cylinder becoming unable to fully disengage the clutch. The problem is particularly prone to occurring when a motorcycle has not been ridden for a prolonged period of time.

Customers reported the issue to Harley. According to the business they were told that 27 crashes occurred. In four of those crashes minor injuries were reported.

In total close to 46,000 motorcycles are included in the recall. The models include the following from 2014 and 2015:

  • Electra Glide
  • Ultra Limited
  • Police Electra Glide
  • Street Glide
  • Road Glide
  • Road King

While the injuries reported as a result of this issue were minor, it is easy to see how more serious injuries could be suffered under different circumstances. When someone is injured in an incident as a result of a defective product a product liability lawsuit could make sense. Lawsuits of this nature are usually complex which requires the assistance of a lawyer who understands how they work.

"They took a case that others would have stayed clear of.."
I have the utmost respect for Rip Andrews and the lawyers at MRB Law. They took a case that others would have stayed clear of because the issue of state immunity was involved. Through determination and unwavering commitment they were able to a find resolution to an extremely difficult matter.

"They...brought justice to my family through a multi-million dollar verdict ."
These lawyers took a complicated issue, revealed the truth in a way 12 jurors unfamiliar with the topic could understand, and brought justice to my family through a multi-million dollar verdict. They were able to relate my “invisible” medical condition to the jury better than I can to my own friends. And because of that, the jury hugged me and cried with me when it was all over. That meant more to me than any amount of money.
