Alabama parents around the state are preparing for the upcoming Christmas holiday and buying cherished toys for their little ones may well be part of these preparations. When buying these items, moms and dads should be able to trust in the safety of the gifts that they are giving. Sadly, that trust may not always be warranted. Even potentially worse is the fact that parents may not know soon enough when a toy should not be trusted.
Consumer products identified as dangerous may be recalled but when it comes to toy recalls, no notices are sent to the owners of these products. That makes it hard to know that consumers are really safe. Complicating matters is the fact that it has been discovered that some toys recalled for hazards are still being sold in some online channels. One toy still available online features a cord that was recalled due to its potential for overheating.
A public interest group recently published its annual Trouble in Toyland report that exposed the ongoing threat. The recalled toys were officially removed from the market over the course of several months from the beginning of 2015 through October of 2016 yet some are still available to consumers.
